Variation on AFS as root filesystem

Abstract

AFS can be used as a root file system in a similar way as NFS. Here a different approach is taken with the help of a standard Linux kernel and a modified initial ramdisk. A fresh root file system gets constructed during every PXE boot sequence where most parts consist of symbolic links into RO replicated AFS space.
